FREEZING WEATHER PRECAUTIONS

We are expecting a “hard freeze” (28° or below for 4 or more hours) possibly Friday night and worsening next week, so be sure to follow these precautions to help prevent damage to your home.

    • Stay aware of the weather forecast
    • Disconnect hoses from outside faucets. Make sure they are shut off tightly and use a foam faucet cover or wrap with cloth and duct tape
    • If you are planning to be out of town, or if your home is for sale or lease and vacated, DO NOT TURN OFF YOUR HEAT! Leave your thermostat at 60° or above.
    • Open all cabinet doors below sinks to allow heat from the home to circulate
    • If you have plumbing fixtures which run along an outside wall, open them to a slow drip.
    • Bring delicate plants inside or cover them so they won’t freeze.

Having a hard freeze for an extended period, even these measures may not help, but if you have damage, your insurance company will want to know if you took these precautions. Also, be aware that damage from your home can affect your next-door neighbors, and you could be held liable for damage to property of others.

The Homeowners Association is not responsible for any damage to your home due to freezing weather.
